Rotary Resurrection - About Us

OUR STORY

Welcome to Rotary Resurrection, thanks for visiting. My name is Kevin Landers, I am the owner and operator, and the only full time employee. I'm 29, married with a young son, have about 9 years rotary experience, and have repaired hundreds of RX's and rotary engines at this point. I perform almost all the work here personally, though on occasion when workload is heavy I may enlist the help of local friends with past rotary experience to help out with remove/reinstalls and teardown/cleaning. I also send some of my porting and milling out to be done.

Think of what I do as more of a "rebuild service" versus an actual seller of rebuilt engines. I build from what you bring me, rather than doing an exchange or outright sale. This is part of the reason I am able to keep pricing low, but it is also the reason that I stay behind.

I currently work from home in Morristown Tn (near Knoxville), in my relatively large basement, in order to keep overhead costs low. Although it boasts no auto lifts and only one bay, it can handle just about any job necessary. I have a small fenced-in area for car storage that remains gated most of the time, and can accomodate up to 3 cars at a time, in addition to my personal vehicles and trailers stored inside. I usually work afternoons and evenings, roughly the equivalent to 2nd shift in a factory setting. I've always been a night person, and I do my best work then. Days are too hectic to accomplish any serious work most of the time, anyway.

I believe in honesty and fair pricing, the foundations of my relationship with the rotary community. My prices are usually 20-50% below industry standards. This does not reflect a lack of workmanship or quality, just a desire to increase competition and make the hobby more accessible to those with limited funds. You can check for references online at www.rx7club.com, specifically in the 2nd and 3rd generation technical sections, where I am a frequent poster. I have hundreds of positive references there and elsewhere, for everything from small used parts to engine sales.

I do mostly stock and mildly modified rebuilds and installations for 2nd and 3rd generation RX-7, with the occasional bolt-in/plug-in engine swap or drivetrain conversion. I do not offer high performance tuning, custom EFI installs, custom turbo/SC/NOS installations, custom engine swaps (Cosmo RE, 20b, etc.) or fabrication, and I don't deal with imported jspec engines or any other used engines. I don't sell new or aftermarket parts. Rather, I choose to focus on engine internal work only and assembly/installs when necessary.

I own a custom built engine test stand that allows me to start and run any rotary engine before shipment, using an EFI based system (93+ engines require front cover swap currently, the EFI is based on a 2gen CAS system). I run any (non-93+) engine that I do not personally install before shipment to check for any problems as well as to help initially seat the seals, unless there are limiting circumstances that prevent this.

At times I get so many emails I stay a week or more behind. Please do not send duplicates asking "did you get my last email?". This only serves to slow the process down even more.
